New UX Lab Focuses on AR and VR Initiatives

We're thrilled to announce the arrival of our UX Lab focused on AR and VR initiatives. This new facet of Tonic3's team will explore the impact of emerging technologies on business models and human experiences. It will also look at how augmented (AR) and virtual reality (VR) can be used to create better value for consumers, employees, and businesses alike.

How the User Experience Lab For AR and VR Initiatives Came to Be

Tonic3 is a digital agency with a user-centric ideology and over 27 years of experience. During that time, we’ve worked with businesses of all shapes and sizes, from Fortune 100 companies to small start-ups and everything in between. But no matter who we’re working with, we treat our clients like partners, complimenting their skill set with our own.

Our goal is always to make the businesses we work with better. Thanks to our partnerships with Salesforce and Veeva and our specialized units for Life Sciences and AR/VR, we have all the resources and know-how we need to make our clients' ideas come to life.

Our UX Lab is the newest addition to our team, but it was a no-brainer. There, we’ll focus on initiatives related to augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). The lab is comprised of industry experts who will explore how AR and VR can enhance our ability to design more immersive experiences. The ultimate goal is to create an environment that allows designers and developers across all disciplines—from brand strategy to coding—to better understand how these technologies can improve their workflows, allowing for faster development cycles and higher-quality products.

Exploring the Impact of Emerging Technologies

Ultimately, the UX Lab’s team of experts will explore the impact of emerging technologies on business models and human experiences. The team will be led by City AR and Tonic3 AR/VR Principal Strategist Preston McCauley as well as new hires with expertise in UX design, engineering, marketing research, and product management. Besides full-stack developers, we also have a team of UX leads, UX researchers, UX designers, and Unity experts on board.

Creating Value for Your Business Directly Impacts Your Audience

The new UX lab will look at how augmented and virtual reality can be used to create value for consumers, employees, and businesses.

Examples of such use cases include:

  • Training employees on new products or processes
  • Creating compelling customer experiences that provide a more engaging experience than traditional channels (e.g., in-store retail)
  • And much, much more!

Sparking Ideas at the UX Lab

In a company-wide email, Tonic3’s CEO described the new UX Lab as "an opportunity for us to explore new ways of working together with our clients and partners."

"The idea is that we'll create an environment where we can share ideas and collaborate on projects (both internally and externally) that will help spark ideas for new products," he wrote. "It's also an opportunity to better understand how AR/VR can be used by our own organization."

Conclusion

We look forward to working with our clients and partners to dissect how these emerging technologies can be used to create value for their customers, employees, and overall business practices. We hope that the UX Lab will also help spark ideas and provide guidance as new apps are developed for a wide range of devices like smartphones, tablets, and smart glasses.
